This is dope asf!!!

djeb responds:

thanks!!! :)

Firstly, the chords you picked are beautiful. Sounds like a progression built off the VI - V7 - vi - I which is quite nice! I must say though, I wish your piano at the start wasn't so dry and perhaps had some sort of reverb. I think a convolution reverb would work nicely (can simulate more realistic reverb than an algorithmic reverb). Another thing is that the velocity on your piano doesn't sound like it was altered so the piano comes in kind of rough, especially when paired with the dry signals. It also sounds like you have a bell synth playing in the background which I wish the listener could hear a bit more of. The mix overall sounds quite unbalanced because you don't have many high end elements in the song and there also isn't much movement in the climax so it doesn't really feel like a climax in my opinion. I basically think this could've been expanded upon more, but what you have now isn't bad. I still think you did a good job so keep up the good work!

Really appreciate the feedback! It helps me catch mistakes and get better as a composer ^_^

Goated as always!

This is so dope!

This is pretty nice! I like your use of the VI - i progression with an occasional VII. In this case, Dbmaj7 - Fm7 with an occasional use of Ebmaj7. It's simple but effective! The side chain that starts at 0:11 doesn't seem like it's as strong as it should be. I would recommend modulating a sine wave's cutoff with an lfo. I would also recommend setting the shape of the modulation to a sine wave and the timing to 2/1. You can also layer that sine wave with a low saw for some grit as well. Keep up the good work!

Heya, thanks for the feedback! im glad someone actually found me here haha
Anyways, I'm sorry but I don't acually understand these chord names and progressions, if someone could explain it to me... About the sidechain, I thought about it, I just wanted to make it more calm and "chill", you know, so I didn't make it as hard as always. I made the cutoff automation, it's like everywhere in the track)) But I didn't use a single sine wave in there..

Again ty for the comment, have a nice day!

This feels like it belongs in a movie. It has an interesting rhythm in some parts which makes it feel even more special. The switch from 4/4 to 3/4 is so well done!

Drumming that bass

I was like "man this score is so damn good! Let's see who made this so I can follow him!" And of course it was you. Man you are truly one of my inspirations for making classical music. Please never stop because I love your songs so much man. It's everything I look for when searching for classical music. Also very good use of phrase breaks at on the violin at 1:34.

HollandAlbright responds:

Aw! That means so much- thank you, that was really motivating to read. It's hard sometimes, but I don't think I could ever stop. Thank you :)

This is like a very good example of this style of music. Very well done!
