Best house song I've ever heard!
Best house song I've ever heard!
Magical
This is really nice! I wish there was more contrast throughout the song though. Perhaps switching up the instruments in the background more often because they do get kinda of repetitive after a certain point.
Heh that was on purpose to suit the songs message. Maybe we didn't get it 100% right though. Thanks for checking it out!
Nothing objectively wrong with it from what I hear. Love the atmosphere you created with the dissonance in the piano from 1:33 - 2:27. Drop's composition is pretty damn good and the progression is pretty nice from my view. Love these eery violins at 4:25 - 6:14. I'm no music theory expert so unfortunately I probably can't break this down to the extent you want me to. I just don't find much wrong with it tbh. I do wish it was a bit louder though. Very well made.
Thanks for the review!
Yeah the situation with the loudness which was going on in the piece was a direction I took in terms of trying to get the piece to sound more 'live', with extra-careful panning, dynamic-automation and volume automation. What this does mean with such a dyanmics focus especially, is that the majority of the track ends up being quiet to ensure that there's a decent sense of emulated-realism present, with one of two notably louder parts present to suddenly assault the listener in an intentionally jarring way (to hopefully make said jumps far more impactful). Where the balance comes with those louder parts would be to make them sound 'loud' without any clipping occuring either, so even at their peaks, additional headroom was given.
It's a tricky one really. From a standalone perspective, I could always just say to listeners 'turn the players volume up', although in the other direction that would also be annoying/problematic for listeners to deal with, if they were to have a track like this in a playlist of all sorts of varying content. The next time I do a project of this type of style though, I am going to brighten up (with some new libs and toolsets I've obtained in the last couple months) pretty much everything, so I can have the perceived loudness situation improved, while keeping the full dynamic range I require for a project of this style.
I feel like the vocals at 0:22 would have been better if they were a bit quieter and also if they were a bit smoother because some of the words sound kinda choppy like 0:44 - 0:55. At 3:13 I think the drop should have a bigger burst of energy. I don't know why but it sounds kinda flat/underwhelming as well. The main issue imo though is the vocals. They just aren't working with this part imo and it becomes more noticeable then earlier in the song to me
Overall, not bad. If the vocals were executed better than I feel this would better imo. Other than that, good job!
The voice of this music is really a hard injury. Because the singer is in the recording, the machine has failed, resulting in only the right channel. Recording shed is closed because of the epidemic reasons, so we have no way to re-recording. I have to add a lot of effects to the voice to cover up these issues. Next time I will pay attention to these questions, thank you for your suggestion!
This song feels very bland to me like there's a lot of room for thing that could be added or arranged differently. The beginning high pitched instrument didn't feel pleasant to listen to either. I recommend starting off with a chord progression that uses that note. Maybe an octave lower perhaps. Here's a chord progression for the beginning: Cm - BbMaj - G#Maj - GMaj - BDim then back to the beginning. I actually don't what key signature these chords are in so you might have to go based off what sounds good to you when you add in different chords so they don't repeat and become boring. Passing notes and chords are also nice. I'm also not a fan of the drum pattern. It kinda messed up the songs flow imo. 0:32 has this weird transition that feels like it looped but it was a noticable loop. The song is also very repetitive.
I thought
Short but groovy. Not much to it though.
I will say the song overall feels very bland. There's a lack of interesting progression. 1:19 feels really random to me. I feel like the whole song needs a lot more, probably instrument and effect wise.
What?
I really dig this rhythm and the old school feeling of it!
I think you made the other parts besides the drop a bit too quiet. Besides that it's really good!
thanks a lot!
