I think the piano would benefit from being much softer. The same goes for the violins because they sound very dry and rough. This takes away a lot of the atmosphere imo because the chords don't express themselves that well. It starts to get quite cluttered at 0:55. I think you need some separation in the mix. I think the violins should be a lot more distant while the piano leads. It sounds quite unbalanced as well. I do like the arrangement but it can't really express itself that well at the moment. I think this song could be really cool. I overall think it needs to be more spacious in the mix and have the volume levels balanced. I think layering the piano could have also been a possibility.

Appreciate your feedback a lot! Thanks for all the advice!

I dig it. It sounds like there's a bit of low end in that bird sample in the beginning so I would cut some of the low end out of it if there is any. It sounds like you used a lydian mode for this song which is cool. If you didn't well it still sounds pretty cool. I think the bass should be bit lower imo. It's nice, groovy, simple and quite chill. The mix sounds solid too.

thx for the feedback and ideas!!

I wish the cymbal crashes sounded a bit more distant and I feel like they're used just a bit too much imo. The mix doesn't sound that bad and neither does the song. It kind of has an old school space movie feeling to it.

I feel as if it's missing a lot of the dark mood to it. I think you should try to build more suspense up to 1:05. It sounds bit quiet as well. 1:05 and everything after is very interesting. Not in a good or bad way. I think this song is very specific in what it's going for but feels very vague at the same time if that even makes sense. This song is very interesting imo. It doesn't really feel like a song. It sounds like a sound effect for a movie or animation.

The snare doesn't really fit imo and I think you should tone down that kick a lot. The mix sounds kind of cluttered. I'm not the biggest fan of the first chord due to how dissonant it sounds. The song sounds like it's going for lo - fi so I would recommend chords with more clarity. I would also consider maybe a glissando in the progression somewhere. Maybe something like F#maj7 - A#m#5 - Fm7. Then you can try adding passing notes using the F# scale.

I really enjoy this! I kind of wished the vocals were a bit lower and sat a bit better in the mix. Maybe a tad bit of reverb on the vocals. Something to consider but not really necessary. The vocals just feel very dry atm. I wish the chime or bell sounded a bit more distant. Overall this is a pretty solid song. Very peaceful and soothing.

I really enjoy the bounce of it and the mix sounds pretty solid! The arrangement feels a bit average to me because nothing in particular really stands out imo but that's not really a bad thing. Appreciate the feedback bud!

I feel as if the instrument choice is a bit questionable. The level's sound a bit unbalanced and I think that the reverb could be filtered out better. The instruments don't really feel organized imo. The arp that comes in later feels less like it's working with the instruments and more like it's fighting for attention. I also think you should tone down the bass and the snare doesn't really feel like it adds much because I feel like it shadows the kick. Also this feels more ambient rather than drum and bass. I do like the mood it creates. It feels wavy.

VibrantMan responds:

I like the way it sounds as well.

I honestly think the clap doesn't really fit. That's all I have to say.

AmexSteamOfficial responds:

Is correct xD

So the song is really muddy so I would take an EQ and cut the low end out of the things that don't need it. The muddy sound can range from 32 to like 900 hertz, maybe more. You can just put an EQ band on peak and go between the frequencies until you find that really muddy sound. I would also look out for unnecessary white noise, which is mainly found at the high end. I find it at like 10k - 20k most of the time. The arrangement is pretty nice. I definitely feels more video gamey. I would leave the pads with some low end btw.

StaggerNight responds:

Thanks! I went back and fixed some of the EQ, hope its better now.
