So the song is really muddy so I would take an EQ and cut the low end out of the things that don't need it. The muddy sound can range from 32 to like 900 hertz, maybe more. You can just put an EQ band on peak and go between the frequencies until you find that really muddy sound. I would also look out for unnecessary white noise, which is mainly found at the high end. I find it at like 10k - 20k most of the time. The arrangement is pretty nice. I definitely feels more video gamey. I would leave the pads with some low end btw.

StaggerNight responds:

Thanks! I went back and fixed some of the EQ, hope its better now.

Sounds like Cysmix. I really like that transition at 0:41 but I think you should tone down that plucking a bit and maybe automate the volume of it so it goes up and down slowly. I just think that would sound very cool but that's just me. Also why is there like almost a minute of silence at the end AXIS!?

Callaxis responds:

That minute is my bad lol, but i’m not gonna work more on this because it’s just a cool unfinished demo i found in my archives.

I think your piano has a bit too much low end so it sounds a bit muddy. I think the choir should be more towards the back off the mix/in the background of the song. At 0:48 I think there's a snare that's giving off a lot of white noise which I'm not the biggest fan of. Maybe of things were reorganized, it might sit better in the mix. Overall I think it's really nice but it's missing that since of clarity due to it being a bit messy.

nixtly responds:

Thanks for the feedbacks, i will trying to fix this

I think this is a really nice jummbox song. I don't know if jummbox has EQ so I can't really say much about the mix. All I can recommend is bandlabs or cakewalk since those DAW's are free and have more options.

I'm just reuploading some old music from 2020 that I made. I had posted it on here originally on another account, however it's seemingly disappeared, and I can't remember if I deleted it myself or not. Either way, there's gonna be a big music dump going on. I'm moving away from this type of music, and my next projects will hopefully be much more in-line with indie-rock stuff now that I actually have the instruments along with FL.

It kind of sounds like the choir and piano are combating a bit after 0:44 and mainly at 1:06. I makes it hard to hear some of the piano's notes for me. Besides that, I like the atmosphere of it. If the piano and choir were a bit more separated later on, I think it would have had a more spacious feel.

Troisnyx responds:

There's no choir 😅 But I think you mean the lead synth, which I did multiband compress differently from the piano. The only thing I could suggest from here is subject one of these parts to stereo widening, which I'm a bit reluctant to do. I might wanna ask LD-W for some pointers.

Thank you, by the way~

The beginning instrument sounds like it stays above everything in the mix from the beginning to end. I think you should decrease the velocity of it because it's sound is very pokey in a unfitting way. I also wish the song was a bit more spacious in terms of atmosphere. I think due to the mix, it doesn't sound that way. 1:21 it all starts to feel random. I think, potentially, randomness can add character to a song but I don't feel it works well here. I think this is due to how messy the mix is. Despite what I said, I don't think it's bad. It's actually an interesting song imo.

Thanks for the review. I'm not saying it's a good song it was more to paint a picture for what it's worth. It's my least favorite song on the album, hence the tags lol, yeah I'd give it three stars too :)

It's very short so I do wish it was expanded upon a lot more. Especially since the chords at the beginning were really nice imo. Unfortunately there was some unfitting dissonance at 0:19. The arrangement of it feels quite off after that. I recommend maybe switching up some chord voicings or maybe trying different chords. I also recommend separating the instruments in the mix some more. They feel quite clustered atm and some sound a bit muddy.

Staintocton responds:

Thanks for your input.

It sounds kind of muddy to me and I really wish this was expanded on some more because I think what you have here is pretty cool but could be even cooler. Maybe a bit more fast paced with a nice melody. Not bad overall.

WeedKiller87 responds:

Thank you for listening to my track and thank you for your honest feedback! I'm just starting out in music production so I have a lot to learn. Making music is a hobby I have picked up on the side. I do wish to advance my skills and have fun in the process. Any input and constructive criticism is much appreciated as that will help me grow and become a better music producer. Looking back at this track, I feel I should have spent more time on mastering to get the right balance of sounds. I will definitely take your suggestions, rework my song, try to incorporate a more complete melody, and hopefully, I can make it even better. Thank you again.
